Give Help
Volunteer
Volunteers are the life blood of foodbanks. Your skills could be just what we need.
Volunteers are the driving force behind foodbanks. There are thousands of volunteers across the UK, helping The Trussell Trust Foodbank Network get emergency food to people in crisis. We want you to enjoy volunteering and there are lots of ways to get involved. Whatever role you choose, you will make a real difference to the life of someone in crisis.
VOLUNTEER POSITIONS AVAILABLE
All volunteer positions are now advertised and applied for via the Trussell Trust website. Please do not contact Norwood and Brixton foodbank directly. Search the most up-to-date positions at volunteering opportunities. By volunteering with the Norwood and Brixton Foodbank you will be using your existing skills to make a difference and you’ll meet you new people who share your passion to eradicate poverty in the community. We are looking for volunteers from all parts of the community including those with lived experience of foodbanks.
Warehouse assistants: We are often looking for volunteers who can help midweek, during the daytime who can commit to at least three months. The role would offer one session per week for approximately 2-3 hours. If you are not able to commit to once a week but would be able to stay on board for longer than three months, we would encourage you to apply when you see a post advertised.
Driver: You will need a clean driving licence, access to a car which is fully insured with valid MOT. Alternatively, if you cycle and have access to a cargo bike and wish to volunteer as a cycle delivery driver, we would encourage you to apply when you see a post advertised.
Supermarket collections coordinators: This role is perfect for an organised and enthusiastic individual. The role involves managing volunteers, putting together rotas and organising the collection process.
Please note: The warehouse and driver roles all involve a degree of lifting and carrying so volunteers will need good fitness levels. In addition, we are looking for volunteers to help remotely with calling and to ensure clients gets support they need and parcels suitable to their needs.
